About 1882, German-born John Wilhelm came to Bremen and built a small, wood-framed shop for his merchant tailor trade. This he worked in for about 20 years before selling out to Louis Gerber–a young and industrious tailor–in 1902.

Gerber moved the shop to another building, and the stand became a millinery shop dealing in ladies hats–a thriving business in the 1900s. It became Joe Frost’s pool room in 1916 until his death in 1934, after which it was bought by Victor Bowser. This appears to have lasted until 1944, when it became Ervin’s Lunch Room and, soon after, Jane Geib’s Cafe.

By 1965, it had become Marv’s Grill. Then it changed hands again to become Marilyn’s Grill by 1973. It remained as such until about 1982, when it briefly served as John’s Ice Cream & Deli. It became Larry Dumph’s A-1 Video Palace in about 1983 and remained into the 1990s.

After a vacancy and another short-lived business, the building became home to a series of Mexican restaurants:

  • Dos Amigos by 2007
  • By 2011, Los Gordos
  • By 2013, La Cabaña
  • By 2015, El Huarache Loco
  • And by 2016, La Parilla Caliente

It is run now by Carmen Gallegos, who did the big renovation to its current appearance in 2018.
