The 70s, 80s, and 90s ushered in computers and advanced farming techniques that allowed one farmer to do the work of many hands. Many farmers took other jobs in factories in addition to cultivating crops. Fiberglass became a big business.

  • Jim Bellman founds Bellman Oil (c1968).
  • Hop-Cap began put Bremen’s name on pickup truck caps all over America in 1970.
  • Greg Mishler started Mishler Funeral Home (1971).
  • Doc Bowen served two consecutive terms as governor of Indiana (1973-1981) and later served as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Reagan administration (1985-1989).
  • The Wooden Peel began serving the best pizza in the world (1975).
  • An Indiana State Police post was added west of town.
  • Bremen Oktoberfest got started in 1977 and lasted until 1991.
  • Bremtown Kitchens was founded (1977).
  • The Bremen community built a new hospital building in 1977, and German Township Community Hospital became Bremen Community Hospital.
  • In 1978, the high school was expanded to include a media center, auditorium, choir and band center, swimming pool, and additional gymnasium.
  • Bob Huff started the Bremen Holy Walk (1981).
  • Video rental stores popped up; at first, you could rent a VCR to play the tapes as well.
  • The state built a by-pass around Bremen, turning US 6 in town into SR 106 (1982).
  • TMT Automotive got started (1984).
  • Martin Ford was founded (1987).
  • Precision Painting set up shop (1995).
  • The town renovated the town hall to its original 1923 appearance (1996).
