The number one thing people ask for at the history center is pictures of businesses they remember from their childhood. Do your kids a favor & take pictures of their favorite public spaces, your house, their bedroom, & their friends hanging out with them. Capture their memories of their childhood rather than just their special events; vacations and graduations are great, but events are singular moments, and most of our childhoods are spent just hanging out.

Take interiors as well as exteriors of the building. Could be the grocery store, pizza joint, drug store, local restaurant, etc. Could have a kid in it (shows how old they were) but focused on the building. Bonus if it has the kindly proprietor in it.

1972 or so - Woodie's Grocery

Remember the mechanical horse and the 6-foot gorilla at the entrance of Kenny’s? If you grew up in Bremen, you probably saw them hundreds of times, maybe even rode the horse for a dime. We don’t have a single photo of either.

1972 or so - Kenney's Super Foods

If you grew up in the 1980s or 1990s, you probably went to Scottsdale and University Park shopping malls many times, for hours at a time. Do you have any photos of them? Probably not.

Do you have any photos of the house you grew up in? We get visitors asking about specific houses all the time, either because they grew up there or because they just bought the property. We’d love to have more old photos of them.
