Back in the days before Bremen stretched much west of St Joseph Street (Bowen Avenue today), Dr Cecil Burket’s horse farm stood on the site where El Rancho Viejo and CVS sit today. In the 1980s, the house was replaced by Penguin Point, and the exercise yard was replaced by Jim Meister’s Ben Franklin. Some may remember the Fashion Gallery and Male Room in the little strip mall in between where the doctor’s office is today.

Those who remember those days may recall the horse farm hosting many 4H events, among other things.

Penguin Point, which built on the site in about 1994, lasted until 1996.
