A small town could be a pretty dull place at times, and anything out of the ordinary was a welcome site. Giant sweet potatoes, for example. War trophies. Double-hulled eggs. Old flax combs. Foreign currency. If it seemed unusual to the Bremen Enquirer editor, it went in the window and made the front page.
