Last year, we were given on loan-term loan a ledger of the John Link & Lewis Fink sawmill in German township. It is filled with many Bremen-area names of customers who had logs sawn into lumber. It’s a fascinating document of a time before the Bremen Enquirer or other newspaper was around. The costs were kept not just to the penny but to the hundredth of a cent–that ten thousandths of a dollar.
