Historic Bremen

There’s some talk about smoke shops in Bremen these days. These often carry CBD products as well as energy drinks, unregulated diet supplements and “mood lifters”. Here is some information.

The Marathon station in the downtown area has existed for many years (originally as a Shell Station). Their smoke product advertising is minimal.

In 2018, Casey’s opened on the west side of town. They don’t advertise their smoke products.

In 2021, Handy Spot Liquor store opened on the west side of town and advertises some smoke products on the building.

In 2022, Bremen Smoke Emporium opened in the old Lifestyles building just west of 331. Because this is within 1000 feet of a school building, it had to be rebranded as “Bremen Convenience Store”, altho it still sells CBD, tobacco, and vape products, among others, and advertises them on the front of the building.

Now, there are plans to build a new gas station and convenience store in the Matt’s Auto’s location, just outside the 1000 feet mark. This would put a gas station very close to residential houses. Other municipalities have a 1000-foot or similar setback from residential houses due to health risks, but Bremen does not.
