Our efforts to get fire hydrants repainted for America 250 (the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence) have been a terrific success. At least 37 fire hydrants got painted in time for the 2026 Firemen’s Festival parade, fair, and fireworks show that brings so many people to our town.
More have been painted since, with plans for it to continue. While there are no plans to paint every hydrant, perhaps we could hope for 50—one for each state in the union.
