You may have noticed the renovations happening on the north side of W Plymouth street lately. Baker insurance got a new facade, and the Dog Lb is being fully renovated inside and out. Bremen can be proud of the way it has maintained its downtown.
The 1897 image is a Decoration Day (Memorial Day) procession led by Lt Adam Kuntz, Jr, veteran of the Civil War, leading a riderless horse as a tribute to the fallen, followed by the town band.
In this comparison, you can see that nearly all the buildings from 1897 are still standing and in good use. The one that got replaced (the one-story wood-frame OFS Miller drug store at the far right) was replaced in 1912 (by the Koontz Brothers drug store).
